COPD Awareness Week

This years National COPD Awareness week for 2011 is the first of its kind in Ireland.

The Awareness week starts on the 20th June 2011 and continues until the 26th June 2011. During this week we will be organising an array of events to promote the awareness of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) in and around Ireland. The events will be anything from educational awareness talks explaining the dangers of smoking and polution from within the workplace, such as dust and gasses, through to COPD pin badge sales at various collection points. Launch Event for Awareness Week Was a Huge Success
The Lauch Event took place on the 6th May 2011 in the TF Royal Theatre, in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ireland. The Launch Event was a huge success. Read all about it here.

Our special guest speakers were Dr. Tim McDonnell, speaking about COPD and the affects it has on peoples lives. Dr. Rooney from Mayo General Hospital, speaking on COPD. Our Chairman, Colin Tubbs, speaking about the need for support groups and the benefits they can bring to sufferers and their families.

The Awareness Week in County Mayo started with a Mass in Belcarra followed by an evening full of entertainment. Click on play below to view a video taken on the evening.
